The start of our story:
Cambourne Comets was founded in July 2012 by a small group of parents and coaches, who were united in their belief that all gymnasts should have the opportunity to experience and engage in the sport of trampolining in a safe and welcoming environment, a principle that still remains at the heart of the club ethos.
Who are we?
Cambourne Comets is a friendly, approachable recreational and competitive trampoline and DMT club based at Cambourne Fitness and Sports Centre, Cambridgeshire, who welcome bouncers of all ages and abilities from beginners through to National Competitors, to our structured sessions. We are registered with British Gymnastics through whom all our coaches and committee are trained and are dedicated to providing positive trampolining opportunities for all within Cambridgeshire and the surrounding areas.
How do we operate?
Cambourne Comets is managed by a small dedicated committee of volunteers, who employ a number of coaches up to UKCC level 3. We believe in communication and accountability and are fully committed to the wellbeing and welfare of the children bouncing with us.
Safeguarding:
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
To ensure the welfare and safety of our members, the Club has adopted in full the British Gymnastics 'Health & Safety for Clubs & Affiliated Organisations' policy and their 'Safeguarding' policy, combining previous Safeguarding Policies for Children and Adults at Risk (copies are available to view on Club Policies page).
Our appointed Club Welfare Officers, Stephanie Reardon, Teresa Shaw and Jess Williams are the first point of contact for club staff, volunteers, gymnasts and parents for any issue concerning child welfare, poor practice within club or potential/alleged abuse. Issues can be raised in confidence by emailing welfarecambournecomets@gmail.com.
