Reporting a welfare concern or incident

Reporting a welfare concern or incident

Cambourne Comets Trampoline Club is fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the well-being of all its members. The club believes it is important that Members, Coaches, Parents and Volunteers associated with the club should at all times, show respect and understanding for the safety and welfare of others.

To ensure the welfare and safety of our members Cambourne Comets Trampoline Club has adopted the British Gymnastics 'Health & Safety Policy for Clubs & Affiliated Organisations' policy and their 'Safeguarding' policy, combining previous Safeguarding Policies for Children and Adults at Risk  (copies are available to view on our Club Policies page).

All our coaches are fully qualified and insured with our governing body, British Gymnastics, have attended a recognised Safeguarding & Child Protection course and hold a current enhanced DBS.

Our Club Welfare Officers (CWO) Stephanie Reardon, Teresa Shaw and Jess Williams, are members of British Gymnastics, have attended a recognised Safeguarding & Child Protection course, as well as Welfare Officer training (previously known as Time to Listen Course) and hold a current enhanced DBS check.

Reporting a welfare concern or incident

If you have concerns about Child Welfare/Protection, including concerns about possible poor practice within the club, potential/alleged abuse, bullying or abuse of positions of trust, these can be discussed confidentially with our CWOs.

Concerns about a child arising outside gymnastics e.g. at home, school etc. must also be reported to the Welfare Officer who may refer to or consult with British Gymnastics, Children’s Social Care and/or Police regarding what action to take (including who will inform parents). Please refer to Reporting Safeguarding & Child Protection Concerns flowchart below.

We also have a dedicated Welfare email address:  welfarecambournecomets@gmail.com

All emails sent to this email address will be dealt with in the strictest confidence and are only accessible by our club welfare officers . There are however a few specific exceptions to this which are listed below:

  • If there is reason to believe someone’s life is in immediate danger
  • If there is reasonable cause to believe that a child, young person or vulnerable adult is at serious risk of harm
  • If disclosures are made relating to terrorist activity
  • If ordered to breach confidentiality by a court of law or the police

In all cases we will attempt to discuss this with you and tell you who we will be reporting to, and what information we are required to disclose.

Safe & Fair Sport #BeTheChange

#BeTheChange is British Gymnastics campaign to help promote a safe and fair gymnastics across the UK. Together we can support and challenge one another to be better.

It's OK to ask for help no matter how you are involved in gymnastics and if you see something that's not right, say something - there's always someone you can talk to. Let’s look out for one another.

A small change can make a huge impact - so what will you do to #BeTheChange?

See something, Say something! #BeTheChange

Whether you are a coach, parent, or gymnast – safeguarding is everyone's responsibility and if you see or experience something that doesn’t feel right, we urge you to say something.
