When to Compete:
- This is very much an individual decision
- Some want to compete the moment their feet hit the trampoline, others will never enter a competition
- Our coaches will advise when a gymnast is able to enter, based on type of competition and their level of ability, the decision is then down to the gymnast
Competition attire:
All competitors must wear correct clothing. Failure to do so could result in a penalty deduction.
- Club cup competitors: black shorts and club t-shirt, plain white socks
- Girls: club leotard, plain white socks or trampoline shoes. Black gymnastic shorts are allowed (no diamantes).
- Boys: club leotard, white stirrups, plain white socks or trampoline shoes. Black DMT shorts are allowed. .
Socks and trampoline shoes must be plain white with no logos or writing. No jewellery is allowed at competitions, long hair must be tied back. Glitter hairspray is not allowed.
On The Day:
- The start list is published about a week ahead of the event so everyone knows what time to arrive for their competition. Competitors need to arrive at least 30 minutes before their start time as they can run ahead of schedule.
- To create a team spirit, we encourage people to attend for the ½ day, either morning or afternoon, depending upon competition start times, thus allowing them to support other club members. Cheering your fellow club members at the end of their routine, really creates a cohesive club as well as a great venue atmosphere.
- Gymnasts will be grouped in ability and age. Sometimes mixed age if small numbers
Warmup:
- Gymnasts are allocated warm-up time, typically consisting of 4 to 5 warm-up turns each. A marshal organises the order in which performers take their turns. Before competing and being judged, you’ll complete one “controlled” warm-up, which serves as your final practice routine.
Competing TRI:
- After warming up, each gymnast performs 2 exercises (routines), one compulsory & one voluntary of 10 bounces each
- Lower grades often repeat the compulsory routine
- In trampoline gymnastics there is a difficulty score, execution score, time of flight score and horizontal displacement score. These are added together and any remaining penalties deducted to come up with the final total for a routine.
- Each routine is scored out of 10 by a panel of four execution (form) judges and two horizontal displacement (H.D.) judges. The middle two execution scores are added together, along with an average of the two H.D. scores, to create a total score. The scores from both routines, and the difficulty score (tariff) for the voluntary routine are added together to give the overall score. Time of flight (Tof), actual time spent in the air, excluding any time spent in contact with trampoline bed, is also added where a Tof machine is present.
- In the higher grades the top 8 scoring competitors will repeat a routine of choice in a final.
- The person with the highest overall score wins
Competing DMT:
- After warming up, each gymnast performs 2 exercises (passes), one compulsory & one voluntary, consisting of one skill performed as either a mount or a spotter, followed by a dismount skill, making two skills per exercise.
- Lower grades often repeat the compulsory routine
- Each pass is scored out of 10 by a panel of four execution (form) judges. The middle two execution scores are added together. The scores from both passes, and the difficulty score for the voluntary routine are added together to give the overall score
- In the higher grades the top 8 scoring competitors will repeat a routine of choice in a final.
- The person with the highest overall score wins
Score Calculation:
• Trampoline Score = Execution (E) + Horizontal Displacement (HD) + Difficulty (DD) + Time of Flight (ToF) – Penalty
• Synchronised Trampoline Score = E + HD + Synchronicity + DD – Penalty
• Double Mini Trampoline Score = E + DD – Penalty
